Curly hair is a blessing. However, managing curly hair is not easy. I’ve been “natural” for 8 years strong and through lots of trial and error I have found a great set of products. As being natural gains popularity, there are more and more companies catering to curly hair. Some are good, some not so much. Curly hair has different needs than straight hair. These products have been tested over and over again and always exceed my expectations.
Top 5 Curly Hair Products
Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner
I first used this product when I decided to go all natural to save my heat damaged hair. Now 7 years later I still go back to this product when my hair is feeling dry and needs some life. I use a small amount with my conditioner to help with detangling then also as a leave-in
Kinky Curly Knott Today
HOLY GRAIL. I would not be able to brush through my hair without this product. Every time someone asks for recommendations this is the first product I say. I use it as a conditioner instead of a leave in.
It is no secret castor oil is amazing for growth. Have you tried the inversion method? The perfect duo. Look forward to a post all about the inversion method and what I think about it.
DevaCurl Styling Cream Touchable Curl Definer
Unlike many people, I am not a huge fan of deva curl products. However, this product will forever be a styling favorite. If I’m in a hurry and only get 1 product to use this is it. It keeps my curls light, airy and bouncy while still having a definition I love.
5. Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie
This entire line from Shea Moisture is to die for. Every single product works amazing on my hair. Another staple on wash day is the curl enhancing smoothie. It can be a little thick so I like to mix mine with a little oil before I apply.
Another tip is to throw a little in your spray bottle for refreshing your hair later on. I’m always making random concoctions in my spray bottle which my friends refer to as “Hair crack”.
Did you know oil doesn’t actually hydrate your hair? It only seals the moisture in. Be sure to use products containing water to hydrate your hair BEFORE applying your oils.
